Before Florida’s early enrollees moved into their dorms and then began the spring semester last Tuesday, Inside the Gators caught up with UF two-star quarterback commit Kyle Trask to discuss his road ahead.

ITG: How exciting is it to start your Spring semester at UF and how did you arrive at the decision to enroll early?

Trask: It’s so exciting, it’s pretty fast moving. It all happened pretty fast. I got offered in July and enrolled early. But it’ll be fun I’m sure.

ITG: What intrigued you about coming to Florida and what did you love most about Gainesville?

Trask: I visited here – I visited twice in July, and I just really loved the people here, it was very nice. I love the great tradition, the football team. They have great coaches. I love Coach Mac, he’s a great coach. And I mean, the people are awesome here.

ITG: What do you feel are your greatest strengths as a quarterback and what do you feel you can bring to the position?

Trask: I feel like my greatest strength is my level-headedness. I’m not going to get too high or too low. I feel like one of my greatest strengths is my work ethic. I’m very self-motivated. I really think I can help the team out.

ITG: What aspects of your game do you really want to improve the most?

Trask: I feel like I have good accuracy but you can never be too accurate. I’m always constantly working on that. I always want to have great feet so I’m constantly working on those two things.

ITG: What kind of goals do you have for yourself for these first few years at Florida? What do you hope to accomplish?

Trask: I want to get a good education. That’s one of the main factors why I came to Florida because it’s such a great school. Football-wise, I’m just really trying to work hard – fall competition you know. Just keep working and just see what happens.

ITG: What has the coaching staff said to you about your role fitting on the team next year?

Trask: They said I’m going to have a chance to compete for a spot and just to be ready to work. I’m ready to work.

ITG: Is there anybody in this current recruiting class or anybody on the roster you’re particularly cool with?

Trask: I’ve built a great relationship with (offensive line commit) Brett Heggie. He’s not an early enrollee but we’ve been in touch a lot and he seems like a good dude. One of my shadows on my official visit was Andrew Mike. He’s going to be in the same dorm as me, he’s really cool. He’s the only one I know that’s rooming with me. There’s two others.

ITG: What do you plan on majoring in?

Trask: Business.

ITG: What’s one aspect about you that most people don’t know?

Trask: Like I said before, my level-headedness – a lot of people don’t know me, I feel like it’s one of my greatest strengths. I’m never too low or too high. I’m always trying to stay in the moment.
