(FREE) Florida flips four-star back Lemons

After a successful visit to Florida this past Friday night Rivasl250 running back Adarius Lemons left campus saying the Gators were a real threat to flip him from his commitment to North Carolina.

“Pushing number one spot,” said Lemmons with a smile when asked about Florida's standing after participating in the Gators' Friday Night Lights Camp. “Things change and I feel bad personally, but at the end of the day I am trying to find what is best for me and my family. My family can see me play in college because they don’t like traveling or flying. It’s nice how close UF is and my grandma loves it, she’s been here one time. She absolutely loves it, and said it’s my decision but she wants me here.”

Less then 48 hours later Lemons has announced on his Twitter account that after thinking it over he is now committed to the Florida Gators.

Inside the Gators caught up with Clearwater (Fla.) High School head coach Don Mesick for more on his prized back's breaking news.

“The Florida visit went really well and he got to spend a lot of time with the running backs coach [Tim] Skipper and he really liked it,” explained Mesick. “His grandmother doesn’t travel very well and she doesn’t fly, so that really hasn’t changed. He’s always appreciated Florida and he’s a Florida kid and my opinion I think that played a big part. I really feel the proximity to home helped and he wants his grandmother to see him play.”

The Gators had Lemons at the top of their running back board for the 2017 recruiting cycle. According to Mesick the 6-foot-1, 192-pounder should fit well in the Gators offense.

“He’s gained the combination of power and speed,” said Mesick. “Last season he played in the 165-170-pound range and now he’s bulked up to the 195-pound range. He looks for contact, which I am trying to get him out of the habit of doing, but he has great vision. You give him the ball and he doesn’t mind going 100 miles per hour into the offensive line. He always has the chance to take it to the house if he gets into the open field because he has those long strides. He isn’t the fastest guy running a 40, but if he gets those strides going nobody can catch him. So they are getting a real tough nose back that can take it to the house.”
