(FREE) Georgia commit visits, still interested in Florida & Miami

Despite committing to Georgia earlier this month, Hialeah Gardens (Fla.) Mater Academy defensive back Latavious Brini made the trip to Gainesville this past weekend for the Gators' Friday Night Lights Camp.

Brini has been on the Florida campus many times in the past and was happy to make a return trip.

“It was lovely,” said Brini. “I mean I love The Swamp and it’s great to get back. The coaching staff are great people and they’re real. They aren’t going to lie to you, they tell you things straight up.”

The three-star defender was able to spend time with a few of the Florida coaches on the staff. However it’s South Florida area recruiter Randy Shannon that Brini was around the most.

Despite Brini’s commitment to the Bulldogs the two have kept in constant contact.

“We have a great connection,” said Brini of Shannon. “It goes far back other than football. He tells me don’t fall into what colleges tell me, he tells me that always. He tells me things straight up, he isn’t going to lie. Some schools tell you “oh we don’t have this we don’t have that”, but Randy tells me “we have this we have that. He says I can come in and fight for my position. He told me some of the DB’s they are recruiting and he said I can come in and complete. If I want to go there I have to come in ready to compete.”

The 6-foot-2, 184-pounder noted his commitment to the Bulldogs is still strong, however there are two in-state programs he’s still planning to consider going forward.

“Miami and Florida,” said Brini. “I am like 90-percent committed to Georgia. The coaches at Georgia are great. You have Mel Tucker and Kirby Smart. Coach Tucker coached in the NFL and Coach Smart was with the mastermind Nick Saban.”

It’s the close proximity to Brini’s family and hometown that has the Gators and Hurricanes still in play.

“They are just close to home and I can have my family come and watch me play. Having family come to watch you play is a blessing. Having someone root for you.”
