Florida football staff set to invade the Bay area on Wednesday

As the Florida coaching staff continues to sweep across various parts of the Sunshine State Wednesday is gearing up to be a huge day. With Jim McElwain appearing at the Tampa Gator Gathering, Florida will attempt to take advantage of the added publicity by having all nine assistants out in the Bay area.

Inside the Gators takes a closer look at what targets will be seen by the staff.

* Offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier and running back coach Tim Skipper will stop by Clearwater High School to drop in on North Carolina running back commit Adarius Lemons as well as defensive lineman Kane Taylor. Lemons pledged to the Tarheels earlier this spring, but likely will see the Gators continue to pursue him as hard as they have been. Taylor currently has the Gators leading for his services despite not having an offer.

Nussmeier will also stop by to check on four-star athlete CJ Cotman and three-star defensive tackle Jordan Scott.

Along with seeing Lemons at Clearwater, running back coach Skipper will also see Rivals100 athlete Devan Barrett at Tampa Catholic, drop by Armwood High School which is home to 2018 standouts Warren Thompson and Brian Snead. While in the area Skipper will also see running back Malik Davis at Jesuit High School.

* Wide receiver coach Kerry Dixon will bounce between Tampa and Polk Counties on Wednesday. He will see five-star wide receiver James Robinson at Lakeland High School before moving towards the Tampa area to see 2018 wide receiver Warren Thompson at Armwood and 2017 wide receiver commit DaQuon Green at Tampa Bay Tech.

* Offensive line coach Mike Summers will see 2018 offensive tackle Richard Gouraige at Cambridge Christian School, offensive guard Desmond Bessent at Sickles, and 2018 offensive tackle Nick Petit-Frere at Berkeley Prep.

* Defensive coordinator Geoff Collins will be at Hillsborough High School to see Rivals100 defensive end Zachary Carter. This four-star defender is a big time target for Florida. Though he hasn’t named an outright leader at this time, the Gators are thought of as the team to beat.

* With the need at the position, linebackers coach Randy Shannon will be looking at talented linebackers around the central part of the state. He is expected to see linebacker Demaratre Locuilien at Sebring, linebacker Lionel Cummings at Bartow, linebacker Ventrell Miller at Kathleen, and also 2018 offensive tackle Cleveland Reed at Forte Meade.

* Tampa area recruiter Chris Rumph will see quite a few targets on Wednesday. He is expected to see athlete Juwan Burgess and 2018 tight end Judge Culpepper at Plant, three-star defensive end Jabreel Stephens and 2018 wide receiver Jermaine Eskridge at Jefferson. Rumph is also expected to eye athlete Devan Barrett, wide receiver commit DaQuon Green, and defensive end Zachary Carter as well on Wednesday.

* Defensive backs coach Torrian Gray will be back going back to his roots in Polk County. He is expected at Lakeland High School home of five-star wide receiver James Robinson and Rivals100 running back Anthony Davis. The Gators are a major player for Robinson along with the Clemson Tigers. Gray will also stop by Kathleen High School to see three-star linebacker Ventrell Miller.

* Tight ends coach Greg Nord will drop by high schools Pasco, Zephyrhills, South Sumter, Wesley Chapel, and Wiregrass Ranch.
